(id=85) There are two ways. The easiest is to click on Help on the Main Menu Bar. Then click on About on the Help Menu. This will cause a dialog box to be displayed that will contain version information. Some versions of the GC/MS ChemStation will have a Revision History item on the Help Menu. This will provide you with a history of verious versions you have installed. The file INSTALLD.TXT in the \Msexe folder, which is in either the \MSDChem or \HPChem folder, depending on your version contains the revision history and can be viewed using Note Pad. 2. We have two 5972 Mass Selective detectors sitting side-by-side in our lab. One has a 5890 GC and the other has a 6890 GC. When we analyze cocaine the 5972 with the 5890 GC produces a spectrum with a base peak of m/z 82 and the instrument with the 6890 produces a spectrum with the base peak at m/z 182. Why is this? (id=90) The software on your 5890/5972 is probably G1034C and that on your 6890/5972 is G1701AA. When G1701AA was introduced, the atune.u in the \msdchem\1\5972 was changed from using adjustments to produce spectra of perfluorotributylamine (FC-43) that have a base peak of m/z 69 to using adjustments that produced spectra with m/z 219 as the base peak. This change came about as a result of replacing atune.u with the file that was used to tune the instrument for high sensitivity. The old atune.u file has been renamed stune.u (standard spectrum tune). Agilent recommends the use of the stune.u file when tuning the instrument where spectra will be compared against mass spectral data bases. 3. I need the data file format for the HP/Agilent ChemStation. No one seems to be able to tell me where to find it. (id=112) The data file format for the HP/Agilent has not changed since the days of the Pascal ChemStation used with the 5971 MSD, 5970/5995 MSP and the 5988. This data system was introduced in 1988. The manual, HP 59970 MS ChemStation Handbook (Publication No. 59970-90034 June 1988), contains the details of the data file formats and the integration file formats in Appendix D, File Formats. The data file format covers 16 pages and the integration file results format covers another 19 pages. A copy of this manual may be difficult to fine.
