Overview:

The G1701CA MSD Chemstation software was a major revision. Many aspects of the software had been enhanced. This includes changes to data analysis, reporting, and control of instruments.  The most notable change was the introduction of LAN as the instrument control protocol, replacing HP-IB, and supporting the new 5973N LAN based MSD. Shortly after the release of C.00.00, a C.00.01 update was released to fix some defects. Although some backward compatibility with existing hardware is still possible, some older instruments and accessories have been dropped. Revision C.00.01 did add support for a new HP-IB card and software driver for that card. If you are current user of the MSD Chemstation and your hardware is supported, this revision is a solid replacement.

Feature list

Instrument Control:

1.      LAN instrument interface replaces previous HP-IB and eliminates the distance limitations with Chemstations.

2.      LAN instrument control and the new 5973N MSD made it possible to control up to 2 GC/MSDs simultaneously.

3.      Software functionality to communicate with the 5973N Local Control Panel.

Software:  (Supported in Enhanced, Environmental, and Reformulated Gas data analysis modes unless otherwise noted)

1.      Auto-Quant setup provides a fast, simple, and step-by-step process for creating a standard calibration.

2.      New process for calculating and reporting signal-to-noise values (Enhanced data analysis mode only).

3.      DoList function is configurable by user for manual and automated data reprocessing (replaced Reprocess Sequence).

4.      Data file export of three-dimensional MS data for use in third party applications.

5.      Retention Time Locking (RTL) has a “closed” loop functionality that allows automated analysis to automatically update retention times do to normal operational drift.

6.      Sample work list may now be imported as a TAB or CSV separated file, automation sequence created, and sequence verified by simulation.

7.      Secured Mode is now more sample centric by allowing the use of up to 15 sample names per method.

8.      Instrument control includes specific system performance parameters with limits that may be set by the operator (I.e., limit on the number of injections).

9.      Drug analysis mode only:

·            Save MSD tune and audit trail parameters.

·            Chromatographic quality checks (resolution, tailing, symmetry, and signal-to-noise).

·            New batch summary report.

·            User defined criteria for real-time decisions during batch sequencing.

10.  New summary report for screening pesticides using the RTL functionality (Enhanced data analysis mode only).
